Harriet Beecher Stowe once said, "In the ranks of the human heart yearns for the beautiful and the beautiful things that God makes are his gift to all alike." I have the same philosophy. Day after day in the media we hear about the ugly side of life. When bombarded on every side by disaster after disaster, catastrophe after catastrophe, it's easy to forget that we can choose to look for the beauty that is still all around us. My travels have have contributed to my love for bright, bold color. I spent most of my life living in California, as well as over eleven years living in Hawaii. I have traveled extensively in Mexico, Canada, and many parts of the United States. I have also spent time in Greece, Turkey, the Caribbean, and Tahiti. I am now a part time resident of Hawaii, but spend the majority of my time in Tucson, Arizona, not far from Tempe where my mother grew up. Most often preferring to paint with layers of pure color and not doing much mixing, my colors are vibrant, often reflecting my love for tropical and southwestern subjects. It is my desire to convey joy, hope, love, and aesthetic pleasure through my work.
